Although ASPE began as a steel erection company, we are just as comfortable erecting precast.  Our precast experience started when we were asked to install architectural panels on the steel structures that we erected.  Since then, we have expanded our precast expertise and have become New England’s largest Merit Shop precast erector.

American Steel & Precast Erectors is one of only 14 companies in the US that has successfully completed the PCI Erector Certification Program/Category S2.

The program, as directly quoted out of the most recent 2011-2012 states the following goal:

Certified Erector

“The PCI Erector Certification Program is designed to provide assurance that the erecting organization has the managerial and administrative capability to achieve and sustain performance consistant with requirements established by PCI, the producer, and the owner/specifier.  It represents the highest commitment to safety and quality an erector can achieve under the PCI Quality Assurance System.  Each crew of a PCI-Certified Erector is inspected twice each year by a PCI-Certified Field Auditor, with at least one of the two audits conducted by an independent auditor.  In addition, the organizations quality documents, safety and erection procedures, personnel qualification records, project files, and equipment management records are audited annually by an independent third-party PCI-Certified Co. Auditor to provide evidence that the required managerial and administrative criteria are being met on all Certified Erectors projects.

Category S2: Complex Structural Systems

Includes Category 1 defined as Includes horizontal decking member (e.g., hollow core slabs on masonry walls) and single lift panels, plus total-precast concrete structures, multi product precast concrete structures (structures having connected vertical and horizontal precast concrete members), and structures having single- or multistory vertical load-bearing ember (including those with architectural finishes).

The “S2” designation is the most advanced within the three categories of design systems (Architectural systems, Simple structural, Complex)

Our scope of projects includes:

  • Hollow Core Precast
  • Architectural Precast
  • Structural Precast
  • Bridges
  • Prison Work
  • Parking Structures
  • FAA Control Towers
  • Sporting Arenas
  • Hospital Work
  • Industrial, Commercial and Residential Applications

ASPE took their expertise international in 2012, with their first project in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada.
